Mikala Lykke´s style, inspiration, ideals and materials
My style is expressive and colourfull.
In my paintings I work with the connection between colours, light/darkness and texture.
When I staryted painting I mostly worked naturalistich and figurative
Now I use most of my time developing my abstract and nonfigurative artskills.
I often find inspiration to my paintings in the nature.
In the summer I like to go out into the nature and catch a glims of the atmospfere,
the moods and the reflektion of the light, in expressive, coulourfull watercolours of the landscape.
My artistic ideals are to be found among the French Fauvists as Henry Matisse, André Derain,
expressionists like the Norwedish Edvard Munch og the German Ernst Ludwig Kirschner, Käthe Kollwitz
and Danish Svend Viig Hansen. En big inspiration is also the Impressionists like French Renoir, Degas, Berthe Morrisot,
The Danish Painters of Skagen as Danish P.S. Krøyer, Anna Anker, swedish Hanna Pauli and Norwedish Christian Krohg .
Contemporary artists that I admire is e.g.
swedish Eva Rödseth og Ungarian Ilona Ösz, danish Kai Lindemann and Norwedish Ingvald Holmefjord.
The materials Materialerne that I mostly use is acrylic pating on canvas as well as watercolour on paper.
I also sometimes use modelling pasta, so that the painting will apear very textural.
In manny years I only used brushes, but now I paint with brushes as well as, filling knives, fingers and sponges
